Share your Passion for your Career
NDYP is partnering with the Department of Commerce on an exciting new pilot "Career Talk" program. This program will match YPs with students in grades 9-12 to discuss their careers via web cam. We need 14 YPs who are passionate about their careers, good speakers, and (especially!) love North Dakota to volunteer for this unique opportunity. Targeted classrooms will be: Math, Science, Tech, and Ag. The pilot will be starting in September. There is no cost to be involved, and no travel required. Contact Catherine Dalzell, NDYP coordinator, if you would like to be involved.

Why YP
Over the last few weeks, NDYP gathered stories from local network members to find out why they joined their local YP network and the future they see for North Dakota. We will be peirodically featuring these on our site. Email us your own response!
How has your local YP network made you feel more connected to your community?
The FM YPN came along the same time I started a job more conducive to networking and a point in which I told myself I wanted to be better at networking. I joined the YPN to force myself to meet more people and be less of a wallflower at events where I didn't know anyone. I believe if you put forth an effort to attend some of the YPN events and be open to meeting people, the amount of people you will meet is incredible. Once you make those connections, it really helps as you get more involved with other area events or groups as often bump into other YPNers and their colleagues.
I feel more connected to the community primarily due to the number of people I have met and the different businesses or walks-of-life they come from. I enjoy helping people and my committee work with the local YPN and the state YPN has been a good excuse for me to be more proactive in talking to people I don't know as I feel I represent the YPNs and I want to promote what we have to offer.
My involvement with the state YPN has connected me with others in the state of which I would never have known without the network.
